- Are you looking for a an accomplished and polished speaker to deliver practical, useful and entertaining presentations that truly inform and inspire the audience?
- Do you want your audience to feel they have learnt something new and practical they can take-away and implement into their businesses?
- This is what we do and do well. We deliver and we are well known for this.
Content required to be delivered by The Risk Store or by Sue Laing as a keynote speaker, is almost always tailored for clients on request. Any size group can be catered for and the format can be either workshop / case study based or plenary – obviously depending on the purpose of the training or presentation Since early 2010 we have also been offering time-efficient online webinars both 'public' and dealer specific, to great effect.
Timing ranges from one hour for a PD plenary session, to short (2-3 hour) workshops, to one or two day intensive group training courses. The design of each presentation is matched to the client’s needs and the style is always focused on “participation with fun”, assuring the most productive learning outcomes. Attendee feedback is always collected, collated and reported back to the source client in the case of non-plenary sessions.
Topics are almost always fully customised in consultation with the client.
Sue Laing - Technical Manager, Founder & Public Speaker
Sue has an excellent reputation as a stimulating and entertaining yet thought provoking and sometimes controversial speaker who has been in demand for many years.
Sue has had over 4 decades in the Australian life risk industry. She was originally trained as a reinsurance underwriter, then migrated to product development, sales management and product research. She has been in senior management in distribution-related roles, as well as operating her own managing insurance agency and dealership. She now enjoys consulting within the industry on a range of projects, these days mostly involving integration of life risk advising into traditional planning businesses as well as claims management consulting under The Risk Store and C-MAP brands.
She has always maintained a particular passion for motivating and assisting the industry to improve the life risk insurance advice process within financial planning. As co-owner of the risk store, a website, training and consulting business devoted to supporting life risk advising, Sue champions the needs of advisers with a range of tailored life risk advice, learning, communication tools and consulting services.
Sue contributes regularly to industry press, public forums and professional development days. Sue's work is fitted in between her mountain biking and scuba diving trips.
Pete Wincott - Managing Director & Public Speaker
Pete Wincott originally harks from the UK (yes he's fair game to call a Pom or any other friendly insult). He has nearly 40 years of business experience mainly in Sales and Marketing roles. Apart from his early years, the majority of his working life has been spent self-employed running small to medium enterprises ranging from design agencies, brand development, software and web application development and lead generation before finally retraining himself to join the financial planning industry, positioning himself as an estate and business continuity planner.
Pete was approached by Sue to join The Store in its' very early days as a business partner and became Managing Director in 2010.
Pete is particularly passionate about convincing advisers to understand they can easily develop and promote their own value proposition as well a streamlining their business processes via the use of existing often under-utilised technology at hand. It sounds so easy and it is! As a relative newcomer to the industry (compared to Sue), he has an interesting perspective of the industry's shortcomings on promotion and communication to the general public.
He is responsible for the gathering and publication of the annual industry claims paid statistics - an initiative of The Risk Store.
He is a mountain biking nut (he got Sue into the sport and she blames him for all the scrapes and cuts) and very willing Pilates participant.
