Who Are We?

Sue Laing
Managing Director

"Hello and welcome to our web home. It's great to finally be able to provide the material I have been building over many years, to more users than I have done in the past in my face-to-face activitiies with advisers.  I hope this offering, combined with other contributors' expertise, evolves as a strong contributor to the resolution of our underinsurance problems."

A combination of Sue's tools plus life risk content sourced from experts the world over will cement the risk store as a new industry hub of information, knowledge and ideas on life risk insurance. The store was launched on 14th August 2006, so is approaching its second birthday.

Originally, Sue formed Laing Advisory as a consulting firm in 2000 after a long career in various roles across many areas of financial services manufacturing and distribution. Sue has now clocked up 34 years in the industry.

Since the implementation of the Financial Services Reform regime, much of Laing Advisory’s work has been driven by the industry’s need to further professionalise the delivery of life risk insurance advice to our customers.  This emerging educational emphasis led to the building of the risk store.

The purpose of the risk store is to assist advisers to sell more manufacturers' product to more consumers.  Only by reaching this final result - delivered via a robust advice process - can underinsurance problems be addressed effectively.

Sue is responsible for the sourcing, writing, editing and filtering of the website and email content and the operation of the Helpline.  She also works on the strategic direction of the business with the risk store's General Manager, Peter Wincott.

Sue is an avid scuba diver, disappearing for weeks at a time, mostly in the wilds of the Indo-Pacific oceans.

Peter Wincott
General Manager

"I'm so excited to be part of the the risk store team. This is a fantastic initiative to be involved in and can only go from strength to strength, offering a much needed robust suite of useful services and tools for financial planning professionals, not only in Australia and New Zealand, but globally as well".

Peter is responsible for the operations of the business and the management of the web interface, design and production teams, as well as sales, marketing and client relationships.  He and Sue work together on the strategic development of the business.

Prior to joining the risk store, Peter was a life risk insurance adviser. Previously, Peter had a successful business career spanning 25 years in marketing communications in London and Sydney, involving brand marketing, internet marketing and software development.

Peter is a football (soccer) tragic and follows Blackpool FC.
